Mac users can now work seamlessly on published Windows applications such as Microsoft Office, and on virtual desktops. Parallels 10 on Yosemite Published by Rhys Allen on April 26, 2015 We’ve reviewed Parallels a couple of times before and generally it’s fared quite well against other Virtualisation platforms for the Mac, despite it’s price tag and almost constant upgrade treadmill.

Parallels Desktop 10 offers a bevy of new features and enhancements, including OS X Yosemite support, iCloud Drive and iPhoto Library support and battery life and performance speed optimizations. The main new features of Desktop 10 include:
  • However, with respect to using Parallels, I'll add the following: I've used Parallels for a few years now, with both a mid-2012 macbook pro (8 GB RAM), and a 2014 macbook pro (16 GB RAM). As a rule of thumb, you want to share the following evenly between Windows and Mac: CPUs, Memory, and Video Memory.
  • If you want to try out Mac OS X Yosemite but you don't want to upgrade your current version of Apple's operating system, you can use a virtual window manager like Parallels and install it there.
  • Likewise, the Parallels engineers have been hard at work to bring some of the Yosemite goodness to Windows and Windows apps, and that work has also culminated today with the release of Parallels Desktop 10 Update 1, version 10.1.0 (28600) in engineer-speak.
  • Parallels Desktop 10 for Mac arrives over a year after version 9 was released in April 2013, along with a dedicated Enterprise Edition allowing users to run Windows applications seamlessly.
