Parallels For Mac Graphics Card

Parallels For Mac Graphics Card

Parallels Desktop for Mac Build 5608 added support for guest Parallels Tools for Linux in the latest Linux distributions (including Ubuntu 8). It also added support for running 3D graphics in Windows virtual machines on Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.3. If you run via Parallels you are running a “virtual” graphics card driver. There is currently no way to install the correct Nvidia Quadro or ATi Fire drivers required by SolidWorks via Parallels even if you have a supported card. With Parallels Desktop, you can switch between Mac and Windows without ever needing to reboot your computer. If you have already installed Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, or Windows 7 on your Mac using Boot Camp, you can set Parallels Desktop to run Windows from the Boot Camp Partition or import Windows and your data from Boot Camp into. Alright, so I am in the market to buy my first gaming computer, however, for work (and also personal preference) I need a Mac. My idea is, to buy the 21.5 inch iMac, with a Radeon Pro 560 with 4GB.

What I would like to do is use the iMac as my daily computer, and boot into Bootcamp for gaming, and use Parallels for other tasks that I need a PC for.

My questions are:

Parallels

Mac Compatible Graphics Cards

  1. Am I crazy, or is this reasonable?

  2. Is the 4GB graphics card going to get me by for awhile? I know that graphics card are a hassle and expensive to upgrade for an iMac, so I want to make sure my gaming interests are safe for awhile.

  3. I am not too familiar with Bootcamp and Parallels. I've read that Parallels can boot into your Bootcamp partition, however, I don't exactly know what this means. Does this mean that if I can open the same desktop, files, organization, etc. that I have in Bootcamp? So just a quicker, less powerful way to access my PC side of my computer?

  4. Would a Hackintosh really be easier and more convenient? I know absolutely nothing about the process and such, so I'd be relying on internet guides.
